May 2016 Microsoft Security Updates

SUMMARY OF MAY 2016 SECURITY UPDATES

Microsoft has released 17 new security updates addressing vulnerabilities in Microsoft software that includes desktop, server and office software. These  vulnerabilities could allow remote code execution and allow a remote attacker to take control of an affected system.

EFS Network Management encourages users and administrators to check the Microsoft Security Bulletins MS16-051 through MS16-067.

Microsoft releases the latest security updates at a random time after the second Tuesday of the month which is May 10, 2016. If the computers has been setup for auto updating, these updates will automatically be installed.

Everyone should check their computer systems to make sure to enable the auto update feature on all computer systems. This will automatically install the critical security updates. Everyone should also check the systems for optional or recommended updates and install those updates as well.

As with any software update there maybe issues. There are no known issues with the updates at this time of this posting.

If issues do arise, please reboot the system to see if it will self-heal and recover. If it does not recover please open a EFS Network Management Support Request and we will take a look at the issues or you can contact us for help.
